You can assign a source reference object at the group level for all blocks in the group that rely on dynamic material.
This applies to the following blocks.
- Dynamic Text
- Titles
- Media
This process saves the multiple workflow steps of assigning them individually when all the dynamic blocks will be referencing the same object.
Assigning reference objects
Find an existing group or create a new one in a content area.
Make sure the group has a label.
Add the blocks for each of the dynamic items you'd like to set reference objects for.
Use the Reorder icon on the right of each to move them so they fall within the group.
Click the pencil icon to open each of the items, noticing that they no source set.
Navigate to the Group item, and click the pencil icon to open it for editing.
Now click either the Select Media or Select Title buttons to set the source for the blocks below.
Note: Each of these buttons will apply to dynamic text blocks, and either Media blocks or Title blocks respectively. For instance, selecting the Media button will not change a Title item below, and vice-versa with the Select Title button.
After clicking a button, the interface will prompt you to select a reference object.
Find the object you'd like to reference, click the checkbox on the left to select it, and then click the Accept button.
A message will appear at the top of the interface alerting you that the reference object has been applied to the blocks in your group.
You can verify by opening the blocks and seeing the reference object has been inserted as a source.
You can now select the fields you'd like the blocks to display, and the other settings as normal.
