NOTE: Google is switching to Google Analytics 4. Analytics accounts need to be migrated no later than July 1, 2023.
During the update, Google will issue a new tracking ID, which will then need to be updated in the MediaStorm Platform.
For information about how to switch to Google Analytics 4 inside the Platform, see this document: Switching to Google Analytics 4
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To link your Google Analytics account to MediaStorm please follow these steps:
- Navigate to General Settings
- Next, add the ID provided by your Google Analytics account to the Analytics ID section.
- Please note, we currently only support the Universal Analytics (legacy) property/ID. To create this, follow these instructions
- Click Save.
Once entered, this value will be used by default on newly-created releases. It can be modified for individual releases as necessary. If you wish to link a specific Player or Website Release to a different Google Analytics account, follow these steps:
- Navigate to Releases
- Locate and select on the Release name you wish to link your GA account to
- Under the General tab of that release, add the ID provided by your Google Analytics account to the Analytics Provider section.
- Save and Publish
Updating analytics on existing Releases
Each Release contains a field for a distinct analytics tracking ID. This field is populated by default by the global setting outlined above.
While modifying the global General Setting applies to all new releases, old releases still carry what was in that setting when they were created -- possibly an old ID or left blank.
You can update analytics ID's on old releases either individually or in bulk.
Update a release individually
To update the analytics code for an individual release, open the release and find the Analytics ID field in the right column of the General Tab.
Hit the SAVE button.
Make sure to republish the release to make the change live.
Update releases in bulk
If you wish to update multiple or all your releases with the new code, it may be more efficient to do them all at once.
To do this, navigate to the Releases tab.
Use the checkboxes next to the Release items to select some or all of your releases.
Click the Actions button at the top right of the Platform interface, and then select Configure Analytics.
Add your tracking ID to the Analytics ID field and hit the Submit button.
This will add the ID to the selected releases, but to make the changes live, you need to republish them.
You can do this from the Actions tab while the same releases are selected.
Click the Actions button and then click Publish.
